CNS-SCN Member of the Month – October 2015

Meet - Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, University of Manitoba

 

Ifeanyi Nwachukwu completed his BSc degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Nigeria before moving to England where he obtained a Master's degree in Biocatalysis at the University of Exeter. He subsequently worked as an Early Stage Researcher at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany.

In 2013, Ifeanyi moved to the University of Manitoba where he is currently working on a project that will help deepen current understanding of the transepithelial transport of flaxseed protein-derived antihypertensive peptides.

In addition to serving as the CNS-SCN National Student Conference Representative, Ifeanyi is the President of the Human Nutritional Sciences Graduate Students Association at the University of Manitoba.  He is the recipient of various awards and scholarships including:

  • University of Manitoba Emerging Leaders Award,
  • 2015 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Laws and
  • Regulations Division Graduate Scholarship. 

Ifeanyi’s contributions as CNS-SCN National Student Conference Representative manifested in the trainee focused, day long pre-conference workshop that was a resounding success. Ifeanyi’s willingness to mentor the incoming National Student Conference Representative is a testament to his dedication to the CNS-SCN mission.
