Paul Pencharz, MB, ChB, PhD, FRCPC

Come to our Opening Plenary session and learn about Protein and Amino Acid Requirements in Health and Disease – What We Have Learned and What Are the Remaining Gapsfrom our Keynote speaker, renowned clinician and scientist, Dr. Paul Pencharz from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Paul Pencharz is a Professor of Paediatrics and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at The Hospital for Sick Children. From 2000-2005 he was a member of the Macro-Nutrient Panel, of the Food and Nutrition Board. He was also a member of the Protein and Energy Panels of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations from 2001 to 2007. He has 323 peer-reviewed publications and 96 book chapters and reviews. He lists 74 research trainees over the past 32 years, based in Europe, Israel, Australia and North America. He has won awards for his research from the Canadian Society for Nutritional Sciences, the Clinical Research Society of Toronto and the March of Dimes. Drs. Pencharz and Ball were co-winners of the Osborne-Mendel Award of the American Society for Nutritional Sciences in 2002. Dr. Pencharz was the winner of the Nutrition Award of the American Academy of Pediatrics for 2002. In 2004 he was awarded the Crampton Award of McGill University; and the McHenry Award of the Canadian Society for Nutritional Sciences. Dietitians of Canada made Dr Pencharz an honorary life member of their organization in 2006. In 2007 he was awarded the University of Toronto, Department of Paediatrics, Physician Research award for Career Excellence. Meeting Your Transportation Needs:

(Pre-registration of a sufficient number is required.)

Open to Guelph and surrounding area conference delegates. To meet your transportation needs, the CNS will facilitate your return transfer for this conference from the campus of the University of Guelph and McMaster University to the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre on Saturday, January 10, 2015. A nominal fee of $15 plus HST, per person, will be charged when you register. An electronic ticket with your name and number will be assigned and sent to you in advance. You will be required to show the ticket to the onsite/co-ordinator or bus driver. Pick-up times will be confirmed closer to the date of the conference.


Green Conference:

The CNS is an environmentally conscious organization and therefore, the conference will be conducted in a paperless environment. Please bring your netbooks, laptops and iPads to access the program online via a "Wi-Fi" hotspot. Anyone needing hard copy material is encouraged to print it themselves in advance of the conference. You will be notified when the PowerPoint presentations are uploaded in advance of the conference.
