Benoît Lamarche, PhD, FAHA

Benoît Lamarche is Full Professor at the School of Nutrition and Scientific Director and founder of the FRQS-funded Research Center on Nutrition, santé et société (NUTRISS) at Université Laval. He has been engaged with CNS in multiple capacities since pre-CNS conception. He has served on the CNS Advisory Committee, participated on multiple CNS planning committees, co-chaired two annual conferences in Québec City, chaired CNS mini conferences and has supported numerous trainee focused initiatives.
 
Since 2018, he is leading the NutriQuébec project, the largest study ever conducted to characterize the dietary habits of the Québec population. He has been funded by CIHR uninterruptedly for the last 25 years. He has published over 430 scientific articles in specialized journals in the fields of nutrition and cardiometabolic and public health, and has supervised over 70 master’s and doctoral students. He is the author, with Jean Soulard, of two books for the general public on nutrition, health and sport. In a more distant past, he took part in the Winter Olympics in long-track speed skating (1984 and 1988).
 
Benoît Lamarche has received numerous awards, including awards from the Société Québécoise de lipidologie, nutrition et métabolisme (Prix des Fondateurs, 2013) and the Canadian Nutrition Society (Centrum New Investigator Award, 2011 and the Khursheed Jeejeebhoy Award, 2020).
