Assistant Professor - Department of Human Nutrition

The Department of Human Nutrition at St. Francis Xavier University, one of Canada's leading primarily undergraduate universities, is recruiting two (2) tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2019.

Situated in a vibrant east coast arts community of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with a strong local food movement and surrounded by windswept beaches and coastal hiking trails, StFX prides itself on the excellence of its teaching and research, the success of its graduates, and its strong commitment to community development and social justice.

The Department offers a B.Sc. in Human Nutrition with major, advanced major and honours degrees, and an Integrated Dietetic Internship. Both the degree and the internship programs are accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP).

The Department is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX's priorities of equity and inclusion. Demonstrated ability in attracting underrepresented groups of students to the program is an asset.

StFX is a leader in undergraduate education, complemented by renowned offerings at the Coady International Institute, the Faculties of Arts, Business, Education and Science, the Frank McKenna Leadership Centre and the new Mulroney Institute of Government. We are seeking candidates to develop ties to these programs. Consider applying if you have expertise in one or more of the following areas: food and nutrition policy, social justice, leadership and innovation, Indigenous health and wellness, clinical dietetics, and nutrition and human development.

Candidates with a Ph.D. in nutrition or related field and who are eligible for membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetics Association will be considered. The successful candidate will teach at all levels of the curriculum in a range of areas, and will supervise honours students' research. Active involvement in department service activities is required. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded program of research.

Please provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching interests and philosophy, a statement of research interests, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references. Applications should be sent via email to:
