Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Nutrition, Clinical Public Health


The Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto invites applications for a teaching stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the area of Nutrition and Dietetics. The expected start date is July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.




The Division of Clinical Public Health seeks an exceptional leader and scholar with expertise in the discipline of nutrition and dietetics. Candidates should have an excellent track record as an educator in nutrition and dietetics with experience in clinical, public health or private sector contexts. The successful candidate will have experience leading an academic program and will be expected to provide leadership and teach core courses in the Masters of Public Health: Nutrition and Dietetics. http://www.dlsph.utoronto.ca/program/mph-nutrition-and-dietetics/



Candidates must have at minimum a Masters degree in Public Health or a related discipline appropriate to roles and responsibilities. A PhD is preferred. Registration with a recognized dietetic regulatory authority is also required. Evidence of excellent communication and administrative skills and the demonstrated ability to work in a transdisciplinary environment are necessary. Experience and demonstrated expertise in educational program leadership is also required.



We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at both the undergraduate and graduate program levels, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online materials. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.



Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a description of the candidate's experience in teaching nutrition and dietetics, a statement of their teaching philosophy, sample course syllabi and materials, and strong teaching evaluations.



Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The most prominent School of Public Health in Canada, the DLSPH now has a roster of over 800 students, and greater than $27 million in annual research expenditures. It houses the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, the Institute for Global Health Equity & Innovation, the new Waakebiness-Bryce Institute for Indigenous Health, major initiatives related to Healthy Cities, Big Data for Health, Quality Improvement, and Clinical Public Health, partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto that comprise the largest health-science research complex in Canada, alliances with multiple international partners and a central location in one of the most dynamic, multi-ethnic, and cosmopolitan cities in the world.



The Division of Clinical Public Health is unique and the only division of its kind in Canada. It consists of over 200 scholars from diverse disciplines dedicated to transforming the manner in which public health, population health and clinical services are understood and practised. The Division offers Masters of Public Health, Masters of Science in Community Health degrees and houses the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited post graduate medical training program in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
