Data Manager/Analyst Position

The Azad Lab (www.azadlab.ca) is situated at the University of Manitoba and Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). We study how early-life exposures and experiences shape lifelong health. Our current research is focused on the role of infant feeding and human milk composition in the development and prevention of asthma, allergies and obesity. Our team is transdisciplinary, combining expertise in molecular biology, epidemiology, statistics, nutrition and maternal-child health. We collaborate and use model systems, clinical cohorts, and administrative databases to study DOHaD in cells, animals and human populations.
We are seeking a full time Data Manager/Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a MSc in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science or Data Science. An equivalent of education and substantial research experience will be considered. Training and career development opportunities will be provided.

- Able to teach, guide and assist other members of the research team
- Self-motivated. Thinks outside the box. Open to learning new techniques and approaches.
Data Management responsibilities will include:
- Link, merge, organize, clean, manipulate and manage data for different projects
- Request, coordinate and keep records of data transfer from different sources
- Maintain an organized filing system for a variety of datasets and vairables
Data Analysis responsibilities will include:
- Analyze data using various statistical methods, techniques and software
- Diagnose and correct errors in programming logic and code
- Generate, summarize, visualize and interpret statistical output
- Explore new data analysis techniques
- Co-develop research analysis plans in consultation with principal investigator
- Advise and guide lab members on the usage of statistical methods, software, and programming
Must be proficient with:
- REDCap or other data management software
- Statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, SPSS, STATA)
- Microsoft Word and Excel
The following experience is not required but would be considered an asset:
- Project management
- Microbiome or other omics data analysis
- Structural equation modelling or other causal modelling
- Machine learning
