The Department of Applied Human Nutrition is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, commencing 1 July 2020. The Department is seeking to hire an individual under the Mount Saint Vincent University Diversity Hiring program to increase diversity among full-time faculty. For the purposes of this call, diverse applicants are those applicants who identify as Women, Aboriginal, African Canadian, racially visible, or disabled, as well as candidates with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expressions, and any other groups that would contribute to the diversification of our campus.

The Description

The Department of Applied Human Nutrition is interested in individuals who have broad expertise in various areas of applied human nutrition.

Applicants should hold a PhD in human nutrition or a related discipline. Candidates should have documented successful experience teaching in a university setting. Evidence of research competency is required. Candidates should be prepared to supervise honours and graduate student research. Candidates should be registered with or eligible to register with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association. Dietitians of Canada membership is an asset.

Workload for the position includes research, teaching and collegial service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach human nutrition and dietetics courses primarily at the undergraduate, but also at the graduate level.

Applications should include a statement of how the candidate's diversity background informs their teaching, research, and contributes to advancing and enriching Applied Human Nutrition programs at the Mount. They should also include cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy and interests) demonstrating teaching effectiveness, a statement of current and future research interests, and contact information for three references.

The department will begin considering applications on 14 February 2020. The position will remain open until filled. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement with the Mount Saint Vincent University Faculty Association. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
