“Working and playing on the north coast of Vancouver Island was a real adventure and an amazing learning experience! Living and working in the vibrant communities of Port Hardy, Port McNeill & Alert Bay is truly a unique experience with its rich culture & traditions. The people of these communities are warm and welcoming and I am very grateful for all they have shared with me. As an outdoor enthusiast, the majority of my free time was spent adventuring and exploring; hiking, surfing, kayaking, fishing, wildlife viewing and appreciating the vast and rugged wilderness that is Northern Vancouver Island. It's where I caught my first salmon, went on my longest sea kayaking adventure and caught my first glimpse of an orca in the wild (on the ferry during my commute to work). Truly an outdoor enthusiast's dream!

Working with Island Health has been incredibly rewarding. The opportunity to work in the position of Food Services and Clinical Dietitian is interesting and challenging as it requires you to utilize every aspect of your dietetic training and skillset; blending and broadening your food service management, community and clinical dietetic skills. Working as part of a diverse and professional healthcare team while providing care and improving the lives of patients and residents is wonderfully fulfilling. If you love the outdoors and enjoy a challenge then this role is right for you!" - Allison, Food Services Manager/Clinical Dietitian
