Bonduelle Stakeholder Consultation in OntarioBonduelle Americas is one of North America’s leading processors of canned and frozen vegetables. The company's products are marketed under the private-brand labels of major North American food distributors and supermarket chains, as well as under Bonduelle’s own labels, which include Bonduelle and Arctic Gardens frozen fruits and vegetables.

Bonduelle Americas is consulting its stakeholders in Ontario in order to gather their opinions on the key Corporate Social Responsibility topics for the Company in the region. This dialog will be used as a key input in defining Bonduelle Americas’ CSR 2015 targets.

The consultation process consists of the following two steps:
  1. A survey about CSR topics - An anonymous online survey is used to gather the opinion of stakeholders on the relative importance of CSR topics related to Bonduelle’s operations. Click here to access the survey
  2. Focus group - the results of the survey will be presented and discussed at the focus group meeting. This discussion will focus on the priorities identified in the survey for the different areas, namely agronomy, natural resources, quality and nutrition, transport/supply chain as well as people and safety. The focus group will be held in March 2015, either in London or Toronto and will last approximately 2 hours.
If you are interested in participating in the focus group, please contact Isabelle Gagnon at gagnon.isabelle@rcgt.com. Energy requirements and the use of predictive equations versus indirect calorimetry in critically ill patients  Sanit Wichansawakun, Liisa Meddings, Cathy Alberda, Sarah Robbins, Leah Gramlich
Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, 2015, 40(2): 207-210, 10.1139/apnm-2014-0276

Abstract: Nutrition support has been shown to have a positive impact on critically ill patients who meet their defined goals of nutrition therapy. However, inappropriate energy assessment can contribute to under- or overfeeding resulting in deleterious effects. Thus, assessment of energy expenditure in critically ill patients is crucial to prevent negative impacts from inappropriate feeding. Currently, the optimal energy requirement and appropriate energy assessment in these patients is controversial. Indirect calorimetry or predictive equations have been suggested to evaluate energy expenditure in critically ill patients. Indirect calorimetry is a gold standard for evaluating energy expenditure, but it is not always available and has some limitations. Many predictive equations, therefore, have been developed to predict energy expenditure in critically ill patients. However, these equations cannot be used generally in these patients since they were developed in a unique patient population. Many studies compared measured energy expenditure with predictive energy expenditure, but the data regarding accuracy is not robust. Therefore, clinicians should consider using these equations carefully based on the current supporting data. Indirect calorimetry is recommended for use in evaluating energy expenditure in critically ill patients if it is available.
