Robert R. Wolfe, PhD

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

Come to our Conference to learn more about “How much, and what kind, should we eat?” from, Keynote speaker, world renowned researcher, Dr. Robert Wolfe, from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Wolfe is currently the Wormack Chair in Nutritional Longevity, Professor of Geriatrics, and Director, Center for Translational Research in Aging and Longevity at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He previously held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School and also The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He has published more than 450 peer-reviewed papers that have been cited more than 13,000 times since 1995. In addition, Dr. Wolfe has authored more than 150 reviews and text chapters, as well three books on stable isotope tracer methodology that are widely considered to be the standard in the field. Dr. Wolfe's research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health continuously since 1975. The major focus of Dr. Wolfe's research has been the metabolic basis for specialized nutritional therapy of specific medical problems with particular focus on protein metabolism. Stéphanie Chevalier, PhD

Attend our Conference to learn about Protein Nutrition in the Aging Population from, renowned scientist, Dr. Stéphanie Chevalier from McGill University.

Stéphanie Chevalier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and cross-appointed to the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition, McGill University. She graduated in dietetics (B.Sc, R.D., 1989), and completed a M.Sc. (1991) and a Ph.D. (1997) degree in nutrition, from the University of Montreal. She completed postdoctoral studies in nutrition and metabolism at the McGill Nutrition and Food Science Centre under the supervision of Drs. José A. Morais and Errol B. Marliss.

Her research program focuses on alterations in protein metabolism and the role of nutrition in aging, cancer cachexia, obesity and type 2 diabetes, in humans. Her work involves stable isotope tracer methodology and mass spectrometry with modeling to quantify metabolic fluxes in humans. She is a Research Scholar-Junior 2 from the Fonds de la recherche Santé-Québec. Her work is supported by the CIHR, Dairy Farmers of Canada and the MUHC-Research Institute. A breakfast, two coffee breaks and lunch will be provided to all delegates at this conference.


Meeting Your Transportation Needs:

(Pre-registration of a sufficient number is required.)

Open to Guelph and surrounding area conference delegates. To meet your transportation needs, the CNS will facilitate your return transfer for this conference from the campus of the University of Guelph and McMaster University to the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre on Saturday, January 10, 2015. A nominal fee of $15 plus HST, per person, will be charged when you register. An electronic ticket with your name and number will be assigned and sent to you in advance. You will be required to show the ticket to the onsite/co-ordinator or bus driver. Pick-up times will be confirmed closer to the date of the conference.


Green Conference:

The CNS is an environmentally conscious organization and therefore, the conference will be conducted in a paperless environment. Please bring your netbooks, laptops and iPads to access the program online via a "Wi-Fi" hotspot. Anyone needing hard copy material is encouraged to print it themselves in advance of the conference. You will be notified when the PowerPoint presentations are uploaded in advance of the conference.
