Dr Dana Olstad is a Registered Dietitian and an Assistant Professor in Population and Public Health at the University of Calgary. Her research focusses on the impact of policy, both inside and outside the health sector, on socioeconomic inequities in dietary patterns and health. Dr. Olstad’s research has been instrumental in: 1) Monitoring long-term trends in dietary inequities; 2) Elucidating mechanisms that generate dietary and health inequities; and 3) Testing the impact of scalable policies to reduce dietary and health inequities. She is currently leading several large randomized controlled trials to examine the impact of healthy food subsidies on the dietary patterns, food insecurity risk and health of low-income adults.
