The Canadian Malnutrition Task Force is pleased to announce a new Pediatric resource: the Subjective Global Nutrition Assessment (SGNA) Video (2025)©. This “must-have” tool will help you get started with assessing malnutrition in pediatric populations.
With an introduction by Dr. Khursheed Jeejeebhoy and featuring Dr. Nikhil Pai and registered dietitians from CMTF’s Pediatrics Working Group, here is the content covered in the video:
SGNA Techniques
Includes the most up-to-date techniques for assessing the presence and degree of malnutrition in infants, children, and youth. Detailed explanations are provided for pediatric growth assessment, nutrient intake, GI symptoms, functional capacity, metabolic requirements, and physical examination. The video also provides a detailed explanation of how to use the SGNA form developed by the CMTF in practice.
SGNA in Action
Emphasizes the physical examination and demonstrates how SGNA techniques can be applied by providing multiple visual examples of well-nourished, moderate malnutrition, and severe malnutrition in children of various ages.
Special features include a comprehensive table of contents, script notes, pause-previous-next buttons, and a search function to help navigate through the various subsections easily to enhance your learning needs.
