Red meats and milk products are nutrient-rich, high quality protein foods that play an important role in helping people meet their essential nutrient needs. Despite their strong nutritional profiles, both of these foods continue to be plagued by controversy and conflicting reports on their association with chronic diseases. With recent shifts promoting whole, less processed foods, it is time to revisit the current science on these two dietary staples. This symposium will provide the most recent scientific evidence of the relationship between red meat and milk products and chronic diseases.
