Webinar description:

Understanding the relationship between the consumption of dietary sugars and diet quality can contribute to the development of public health recommendations for maintaining good health and reducing the risk of chronic disease. Given the presence of sugars in a wide range of foods and beverages, research examining the impact of sugars intake on overall diet quality and nutrient adequacy needs to be more granular to better inform effective public health strategies. This webinar takes a deep dive into the associations between added sugars intake and diet quality, including the latest insights on the impact of multi-dimensional factors such as energy intake, food sources, age, and socioeconomic factors on the associations based on research using the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) dietary intake data.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Gain knowledge on the literature on the associations between added sugars intake and diet quality
  2. Learn about the latest research on added sugars intake, diet quality indices, and nutrient adequacy in the US and Canada
  3. Identify key factors that impact the association between added sugars intake and diet quality
