Unlocking Nutrition Data: A Demonstration of Health Canada's Data Tools
February 3, 2026 | 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Speaker: Julie Ennis, PhD (Health Canada)
Webinar description: Health Canada recently launched a suite of interactive data tools on the Health Infobase. These new tools make data, such as those from nutrition surveillance, more accessible by presenting information in a user-friendly, interactive format that allows users to create customizable, easily interpretable summaries.
This webinar will raise awareness of these new tools and provide members with demonstrations of each. The data within these new tools underpin Health Canada’s nutrition policies and regulations, risk assessments and program evaluation activities. The information provided is also valuable to a broad external audience including researchers, policy-makers, health professionals, food industry and health media.
These tools complement the detailed data files available on the Government of Canada’s Open Data Portal and align with Canada’s commitment to greater transparency and accountability.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the webinar participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose, scope, and key insights provided by Health Canada’s new interactive nutrition data tools.
- Learn how to use the Health Infobase data tools and the DRI Calculator to generate customizable summaries of dietary intake information.
Moderator: To be confirmed
