Nutrition-related health of children with Trisomy 21 living in Manitoba
Speaker: Maria Baranowski, PhD, MSc, RD (University of Manitoba and St.Amant Research Centre)
Webinar description: eople with Trisomy 21 experience more nutrition-related conditions and diseases throughout their lives compared to people without Trisomy 21. Currently, there is no monitoring or evaluation of the nutrition-related health of Canadians with Trisomy 21. My PhD research study aimed to determine the nutrition-related health of school-aged children (between 6-12 years old) with Trisomy 21 and to explore their experience receiving nutrition knowledge and care. Study findings may be used to inform future meaningful and effective nutrition knowledge and care, and research, that aims to improve the nutrition-related health of Canadian children born with Trisomy 21 and reduce their risk of developing nutrition-related conditions and diseases as they age.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the webinar participants will be able to:
- To discuss literature related to nutrition-related health and Trisomy 21
- To explore the nutrition-related health of children with Trisomy 21 living in Manitoba and their experience receiving nutrition knowledge and care
- To discuss changes to practice and research based on study findings
Moderator: to be confirmed
