Job Description :

The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time, 3 year Term position at the rank of Instructor I, commencing January 1, 2019, or soon thereafter.

Responsibilities :

The position includes responsibility for the instruction and coordination of the Department undergraduate on-line course offerings related to foods, nutrition, and human health. The candidate must provide evidence of their proficiency to teach in all of these areas. Final assigned duties will be subject to the needs of the Department. Academic staff at the rank of Instructor I at the University of Manitoba also are expected to contribute to service. The latter will include contributions to the development of the department and faculty blended learning and on-line academic program offerings. There is no research expectation in this position. The position will be weighted at 80% teaching and 20% service.

Qualifications :

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Human Nutritional Sciences/Foods and Nutrition. Candidates with a M.Sc. Degree plus status as a Registered Dietitian in Canada will also be considered. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years demonstrated excellence in the instruction of on-line courses at the college or university level. Experience in on-line course development is considered an asset.

Additional Information :

Recently formed from the merger of the Department of Food Science and the Department of Human Nutritional Sciences, The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences is part of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. This position will play an important role in the evolution of the new department. The department is home to a B.Sc. in Human Nutritional Sciences that is an accredited program recognized by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP). Furthermore, it supports an undergraduate program in Food Science that is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists. Applications will be reviewed in this context with regard to fit with the program teaching goals.
