Dietetic Educator

The Department of Human Nutrition, St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a Dietetic Educator. The position, commencing May 1, 2022, is a full time probationary appointment for a total of four (4) academic years before being considered for a continuing appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Located in the town of Antigonish on the beautiful Northeast Coast of Nova Scotia, StFX is a small closely- knit university known for excellence in undergraduate education, community partnerships and legendary school spirit.

The Department of Human Nutrition offers an accredited undergraduate dietetics program and integrated dietetic internship, as well as partnerships with Human Kinetics, Business, and Education programs, to offer students multiple career paths. We are seeking an innovative and experienced dietitian to work closely with our faculty team to teach and mentor students, develop new placement opportunities, guide practice-based research, plan new academic initiatives, and inspire future nutrition professionals. The position involves teaching practice-related courses, student mentorship, liaising with inter-professional and community groups, coordinating accreditation, program planning and development, and partnership building.

The preferred candidate will have a master's level degree, experience supervising students, involvement in practice-based research, at least five years working in dietetic practice, and experience working with rural and/or under-represented populations. Eligibility for membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association (NSDA) is a requirement.

The Department is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX's priorities of equity and inclusion. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate how they will contribute to the diversity efforts of our university. Demonstrated ability in attracting underrepresented groups of students to the program is an asset.
