Membership Term & 2026–2027 Pricing
CNS memberships follow a January–December calendar year.
- Join early and get more time: Memberships purchased or renewed beginning September 1 include the remainder of the current year plus the full following calendar year.
- 2026–2027 membership cycle: Memberships purchased or renewed beginning September 1, 2026 are valid through December 31, 2027.
Membership Categories, Eligibility & Fees
Select the membership category that best fits your career or educational stage. All applicants are expected to support the aims and objectives of CNS. Membership fees are listed in Canadian dollars and are subject to applicable tax.
The fees below are effective September 1, 2026 and apply to memberships valid through December 31, 2027.

Active Membership
$225 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual with a graduate-level degree in nutrition or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution who is employed in nutrition or a related field in government, health care, research, education or industry may join CNS as an Active member.
Joint Active Memberships
- CNS / ASN Active Membership: $440 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Active Membership: $445 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Physician Membership: $445 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ESPEN Active Membership: $375 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ESPEN Active Membership: $590 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ASPEN Active Membership: $660 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ESPEN / ASPEN Active Membership: $840 CAD + applicable tax
Early Career Membership
Early Career I — $120 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual within five years of receiving a doctorate degree, or a young professional who has completed a nutrition or related degree within the past five years.
Early Career II — $180 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual within six to ten years of receiving a doctorate degree, or a young professional who has completed a nutrition or related degree within the past six to ten years.
Joint Early Career Memberships
- CNS / ASN Early Career I Membership: $235 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN Early Career II Membership: $340 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Early Career I Membership: $235 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Early Career II Membership: $340 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ASPEN Early Career I Membership: $395 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ASPEN Early Career II Membership: $505 CAD + applicable tax
Early Career applicants are required to provide their graduation date. Spot checks requiring proof of graduation date may be conducted from time to time to verify member eligibility.
Associate Membership
$225 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual who is a member of a provincially regulated healthcare profession, or who works in an allied healthcare profession with a focus on nutrition as part of their practice, is eligible to join CNS as an Associate member.
Joint Associate Membership
- CNS / ASN Associate Membership: $440 CAD + applicable tax
Emeritus Membership
$80 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual who has been an Active or Associate CNS member in good standing for at least five years, is over the age of 65, and has retired from professional life in a remunerative capacity.

Joint Emeritus Memberships
- CNS / ASN Emeritus Membership: $80 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Emeritus Membership: $200 CAD + applicable tax
Student Membership — Graduate
$65 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual currently enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate program of nutritionally oriented study, carrying at least a fifty percent (50%) course load, and who is a candidate for a graduate or medical degree at an accredited institution is eligible to apply. Proof of status is required.
Joint Graduate Student Memberships
- CNS / ASN Student (Graduate) Membership: $120 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASPEN Student (Graduate) Membership: $135 CAD + applicable tax
- CNS / ASN / ASPEN Student (Graduate) Membership: $190 CAD + applicable tax
If you are registering as a CNS Student member, you will be asked to upload proof of student eligibility with your application.
Student Membership — Undergraduate
$40 CAD + applicable tax
Eligibility: Any individual who is a candidate for an undergraduate degree and is currently a full-time student at an accredited Canadian institution is eligible to apply. Proof of status is required.
Student Endorsement
All eligible CNS Student (Undergraduate) members must be endorsed by an existing CNS Active member, including joint ASN, ESPEN or ASPEN members, in good standing. You will be asked for this endorsement during the application process.
