Mackenzie Battle is a Senior Regulatory Attorney at the Good Food Institute (GFI), which is a nonprofit think tank and global network of organizations working to make the food system better for the planet, people, and animals by catalyzing the growing field of alternative proteins through scientific research, direct engagement with the food industry, and policy. Mackenzie focuses on the regulatory landscape shaping plant-based, cell-cultivated, and fermentation-enabled proteins across the United States. She also leads GFI's engagement with the Codex Alimentarius Commission as an Observer organization, guiding the organization's contributions to international food safety standards. In this role, Mackenzie tracks global regulatory developments that impact the future of alternative proteins.
Mackenzie received her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.
