Teresa Mastrodicasa is an expert in nutrition policy and regulatory affairs, whose work is focused on bringing industry perspectives to ongoing government consultations impacting the food manufacturing sector as well as on the global stage in shaping the development of food standards.
She currently works at Food, Health and Consumer Products of Canada or FHCP, the largest industry association representing food, health, & consumer product manufacturers. This includes the foods we love, the over-the-counter medicines and natural health products we trust to treat our common ailments, the paper products that clean up life’s little messes, and so much more.
Teresa’s work at FHCP has been focused on several key labelling initiatives, Canadians will soon see on many of the products in the grocery store including front-of-package labelling regulations and supplemented foods regulations. In addition to bringing industry’s perspective to the table to ensure that policy and regulation proposals are balanced and science-based, she has also been advocating for regulatory modernization on regulations impacting plant-based foods and infant formulas.
Previous to this, she spent time working at Campbell Company of Canada, in regulatory and nutrition strategy roles. Teresa is a member of Dietitians of Canada and the Canadian Nutrition Society.
Teresa completed her Bachelor of Applied Science, Food and Nutrition and Master of Health Science, Nutrition Communication at Toronto Metropolitan University.
